A Frugal Note

Good morning! I have today off and I am so glad because it is currently rainy and cloudy outside. I adore rainy days at home. :)

Thank you everyone for all your comments yesterday about the new haircuts, Locks of Love, and for the birthday wishes for my sister. I think all in all she had a pretty good birthday and isn’t too sad about leaving the teen years. ;) (P.S. Her super cute boyfriend in Alabama sent her flowers, chocolates, and a balloon – what a keeper, eh?) :)

Remember when I blogged about the great customer service at yogadownload.com? Well they’re so awesome that they decided to give all of my readers a discount coupon code! The code is ThanksMrslc and is good for 50% off your order as many times as you would like to use it before it expires at midnight May 31st. Thank YOU Yoga Download!

Now I wanted to share a quick little frugal note for y’all. I know some people love buying cards for people but I personally can’t stand it. It can take so long to look for that perfect card and the cost of buying cards for every birthday, holiday, anniversary, wedding, baptism, graduation, etc. can get astronomical! This is why I take the creative, personal and frugal road by making my cards! I wanted to share one recent example.

Remember when I went to Adam and Katy’s wedding a couple weekends ago? Here’s the card I made them.

The base of the card (the rose card underneath) was in a set of cards that I picked up for either $0.50 or $1.00 for a pack of 8 or 10 cards (these kind of cards can always be found at Michaels). The vellum overlay with “Katy & Adam” and the ribbon I took from the wedding invitation. All I did was use a paper trimmer to cut the card and vellum down to the size I wanted, punched holes for the ribbon, and assembled! It was so easy, so frugal, and I absolutely loved the personalized final product.

You can very easily get a few supplies to get you going on your own card making. As I mentioned, basic stock cards can be found very inexpensively at Michaels, and I’m sure other places. Check out the clearance and sale aisles of Michaels, Walmart, Target, Joann Fabrics and more for stickers, scrapbook paper, ribbon, and more. Paper trimmers can also be found at these same places. I recently bought a new one at Michaels using a 40% off coupon making my $20 paper trimmer a $12 paper trimmer. :) These coupons can be found with your weekly Sunday newspaper ads, or you can sign up here to receive coupons in your inbox. :)

I really hope you all enjoyed my frugal tip! You can expect to see more of them. :) Have a fantastic day folks, I’ll catch up with y’all later!

I agree, rainy days are best when you can just stay at home and relax. I hate when I have to go outside in the rain, though–ugh! The bottom of my jeans always get all wet and I end up having to change. ANYWAY… ;)

I love that you make your own cards, and they’re super cute! Thanks for the tip :)
