Get ready for a series of cruise posts! Tonight’s will be the first leg of our trip, before we made port. The rest of the trip will come tomorrow. Also, on a food note – for the sake of brevity I’m just going to show the formal dinners and give descriptions/ ratings all in one post at the end.
I’m going to try to let the pictures do most of the talkin’ so y’all aren’t here all night!

Last Saturday we departed on our first cruise in celebration of our one year anniversary!!
The weather was actually rainy, windy and full of lightning so it was ideal, but hey who cares, we were on a cruise!
Before we actually left, of course we had the standard Muster Drill. Darn things get in the way of kissin’!
Our cabin was comfy, cozy and cute. (Although we only got 3 towel animals the entire trip!)
And the bathrooms were amusing with the super-suction toilet flushing to the showers the size of a roomy coffin.
(Sidenote FYI: if budget is a concern, being in an interior room on a lower deck was totally fine. Our room was 3055, so it was relatively low but closer to the middle of the boat, and we were more than pleased with our room!)
We took a lot of time to explore the boat the first evening, and pretty much loved everything we saw.
The ship truly was remarkably clean the whole time, you could tell the crew worked very efficiently!
In actuality, our first night of the cruise was probably our lamest. I tend to get motion sick at times, so I took a pretty strong motion sickness pill my mom gave me called Bonine. Holy heck, that little sucker knocked me off my feet! I was fuzzy headed for 24-hours and crashed at 9:45 the first night! Only to wake up a couple hours with a horrible, massive, crushing headache. I finally fell asleep again to deal with really vivid, strange dreams until I woke up over 12 hours later. Absurd! Lesson learned: Bonine is not for me! (And needless to say I didn’t have any more the rest of the cruise – I was just fine, no motion sickness!).
The next morning began my obsession with all the blues of the water.
I love that bright, vibrant blue! I also loved the clear skies (although the sun seemed a lot bigger! This picture doesn’t quite capture the “big sun” essence).
Our first full day on the ship was a day at sea and was also our official one year anniversary. Lucky for us it was also formal night, so we got to get all cute.
Dinner that night was fun, and we both got to try new things (don’t worry, full food recap at the end!)
And we got our first towel animal! A puppy!
We also got some free champagne at the Captain’s Welcome Party, although we just pretended they were giving us free champagne for our anniversary.
Come back tomorrow for Grand Cayman!!

For the sake of food blogging, here are today’s most creative eats:
Lunch was small so I had a mid-afternoon/ later workout fuel snack of a small Oikos (the 80 calorie snack size ones), with 1/2 a plum, ground flax, drizzle of raw almond butter and drizzle of agave. This will be repeated! Probably tomorrow.
Tonight’s dinner was a veggie-cheese calzone with the rest of the dough from Jenna’s Best Pizza Dough.
I filled it with a layer of Trader Joe’s Red Pepper Spread, skim ricotta, shredded Italian cheese blend, black olives, baby bella mushrooms and chopped spinach.
So satisfying! After a day of moving preparations, packing, craigslist listings, facebook photo uploading, a work out and job searching I was feeling lazy and honestly felt like ordering a pizza (something we NEVER do!). However, tonight’s dinner was further reminder that if I just get off my lazy bum I will find something so much more satisfying (and healthier) than I could find elsewhere!
See you ladies tomorrow! Ciao bellas!
