Hello from Gainesville!

Hello from Gainesville!!!

Yesterday was a very long, sweaty (hello, moving in Florida in August? Who’s bright idea was that?? haha), and exhausting day. Seriously though – thank goodness for my parents, because if they hadn’t been there, we probably wouldn’t have even gotten on the road until at least mid-late afternoon!!

I started my morning with this new Larabar flavor – Tropical Fruit Tart:

I had heard mixed reviews of this bar, but I REALLY enjoyed it!!! It smelled like a tropical vacation and tasted like a healthy fruit tart. ;)

After we got loaded up, lunched (Subway – 6″ honey wheat veg delight, no cheese, no pickles, no onions, super light honey mustard or sweet onion sauce - my new standard order), and drove to Gainesville, Ross had the realization that we had to return the Budget truck by 5:00. We didn’t get into Gainesville until around 3:45, so we just hauled everything out of the Budget truck and dumped it on the sidewalk/ road!

It wasn’t all sunshine and roses though (literally – it was raining part of the way up). Remember that “Rustic Christmas Plaid” wallpaper that was going to get taken out of our apartment before we got here? Wanna see what it looks like in a whole kitchen?

Mmm, isn’t that quite the inspiration for culinary masterpieces?? It’s ok though – everyone is really nice here. I talked to the office manager today and it’s getting taken down on Monday. :) Good thing we had it in writing!

People are SO nice here though. I talked to the sweetest chick in the apartment office, and then when Ross and I were returning the U-Haul, an awesome guy named Nick came over to help my parents bring stuff into the apartment. He’s really friendly and invited us to a small dinner party he and his wife are having on Saturday night. We’re already starting to make friends!!! Yay! :)

Gainesville also has a lot of really cool places to go, especially places to eat! Look at one fun place I found last night – D’Lites!! Can you believe a half cup of this stuff is only 50 calories (I don’t want to think about the kinds of unnatural products they had to use to get it that low though, lol…). We had to try it though, so I had chocolate with confetti (mini choc. chips and sprinkles). (Worst. Photo. Ever).

I had my first interview this morning – it was a series of “skills assessments” that, while time-consuming, I think I did pretty well on. Hopefully I’ll get called back for a second interview! (I have another interview somewhere else on Monday.) I was there a long time though, and didn’t get to have “lunch” until after 2:00!! It was mighty tasty though:

Fage 2% Cherry Greek Yogurt with the new Peanut Butter & Jelly Larabar. Both of these were SO delicious! The Fage cherry? Oh gosh, just add a few mini chocolate chips and you’d have a delicious, protein-packed, decadent dessert! The PBJ Lara was mighty tasty too, although I think I may have had a few cherry pit pieces? No worries. :)

Alright well hubby just got home from his new teacher orienation so we need to go unpack!!! (He got all sorts of goodies! I already scarfed some freebies he got lol. But it’s ok – he got a work laptop, so I’m pretty sure that’s all he cares about at the moment!). :)

I’ll touch base with y’all again later, happy days friends!!

Yay! I'm so happy you're making progress with job hunting. You sound like me when I moved to Orlando. I had a job interview the day after moving in too! And good things came out of it so I hope they will for you too :)

OMG when I went to UF I would seriously ea D'Lites like 3-4 times a week…so much money but soooooo good!! There's actually a franchise in Altamonte Springs (Orlando) but it's kind of a hike from where I live.

Good luck with the move in process…I'm sure to be up there soon for Gator games.
