Mental Health + Frozen Foods

Happy Friday friends. Let’s do a recap of recent eats and events, shall we?

Yesterday I went to the gym before lunch and did some running/ jogging/ walking on the treadmill (most of the time run 2 minutes walk 1, except my asthma was nutters yesterday so I few times I did either 1-1 or 2-2). I’m slowly trying to get back into running, so it was definitely a good sweat sesh.

Lunch was a healthy mish mash of some odds and ends in the fridge: leftover whole wheat pasta, spinach, grape tomatoes, tofu, black olives, red pepper, mushrooms, TJ’s red pepper spread and a dash of EVOO and balsamic vin. Perfect post-sweat-sesh fuel. :)

Now we all know what happened between lunch and dinner. I was one.point.away. from getting the job. I know that the only reason I did not get the job is because the girl who got it has lived in that area (a smaller community) her whole life. That is a factor that is obviously out of my control and I cannot dwell on.

I’ll be honest though. The emotions have been in full swing. But this is life. This is the real world. And frustrating as it may be, you simply can’t let yourself get down. For your sanity, you must keep pushing on, you must keep focusing on any positive thing you can, you must delight in the simple things. You have to let go of worry and you have to have hard skin. And hard as it may be, you have to continue to find hope, inspiration, motivation and faith. I know this first hand, as this has happened before and I was in a pretty serious depression for months on end. I’m still pulling myself up and out, and I know I can’t let anything pull me down.

That was probably pretty deep for a Friday morning, and maybe more than some of you wanted to know about me (and it was defintiely scary for me to put out there!). But you know what? Living a healthy, balanced life includes so many aspects, and one of those is mental health. I know this is a rough economy and rough times, and I know that I’m not the only one who has been in hard places. Which is why I’m going to keep finding positive things to focus on and share with you guys.

Well, anyway, the wine was good last night! Black Box Wines sent me some 2008 New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to review (via Foodbuzz - thanks FB and BBW!). I really liked it! It was such a light and smooth wine. It was a sweet wine (but don’t worry, not Arbor mist sweet lol) and just a perfect summery wine. Good thing I have plenty more! Hopefully I’ll find a job before I finish the box. ;)

My creativity slept in this morning, so I reached for the easiest non-cereal option: Apple Oat Bran muffins (yup, straight out of the freezer!) and some grapes and honeydew (didn’t eat the h-dew, thinkin’ it had a strange stank goin’ on).

Do you like enjoying things straight from the freezer?? Weird thing of mine, but I love “freezer food”. :) I love frozen muffins, cookies, chocolate chips, and so much more! Ross is a big fan of frozen grapes but they hurt my teeth. What’s your favorite frozen food?

    Hey sweet girl!

Good for you for staying optomistic throughout this all. You are always inspiring and a true admiration to so many. You will find that God has a bigger and better plan for you, I promise my dear!

I am addidicted to frozen fruit (especially mango and grapes). I eat a large bowl almost every single night. It's my sweet ending to each day.

    Take care hun!

frozen grapes and frozen cookies are my favorites. Oh… and this will sound weird but goldfish crackers are better frozen. I'm not sure why. LOL.
