Happy Friday Evening, friends!!!
How was your day? Mine was spent job searching, which wasn’t completely fruitless because I did find two new development jobs to apply for! We shall see if I hear anything.
I have a confession to make. At times, I can tend to be an emotional eater. Times when I’m bored (i.e. when job searching), frustrated (i.e. when job searching) and generally unsatisfied with my life (i.e. when job searching). And when I emotionally eat I tend towards carbs and sweets. This is all a perfect reason to not keep sweets in the house!
Anyway, this afternoon wasn’t too terrible. I started with a super quick “lunch” of a leftover corn muffin and some deli turkey. (This was hardly a lunch, but I just ate what I was hungry for when I got hungry).
Throughout the rest of the afternoon I kept snacking – one more corn muffin, a small handful of pretzels and a bite of the too-floury cookie test (the rest got trashed – not worth the calories). In retrospect it wasn’t too terrible, but after my afternoon eats I felt unbalanced – too much carb.
I also sipped on a new Honest Tea – Pearfect White Tea. Tasty! I only had about a quarter because I am trying to make these last!
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” – Dolly Parton
I also sampled a new product that Molly from POM Wonderful sent me to try – their new POMx Iced Coffee.
I sampled a portion of the Chocolate beverage cold, over iced.
It was fairly tasty! I was actually surprised that it was nonfat because it tasted very creamy. It had a very subtle “different” taste (I wish I could be more descriptive, but I don’t know how to describe it). I imagine it was POMx? Trust me, it wasn’t bad!
Unfortunately, having been avoiding dairy for awhile and sampling this turned my stomach into an absolute mess. If it’s alright with Molly, I think I may pass the rest on to some of you.
Dinner was veggi-rific!
I lightly cooked some zucchini, tomato, mushrooms and asparagus in a tiny bit of sesame oil. Add a little soba noodles and a touch of Whole Foods Sesame Ginger sauce, sprinkle with sesame seeds and voila!
This kind of dish was perfect for me tonight. Since I wanted more veggies and less carbs after my afternoon, I was able to dish out more veg for myself and more pasta for Ross. Made us both happy – love it!
Do you guys have any special plans this weekend? Ross and I are going to finish getting our apartment together (still have some shelves to put up and Ross needs to organize his desk), have a couple things to return, need to menu plan and do groceries and we’re hoping to check out a state park a mile down the road from us! Those are our big Saturday plans.
Have a great night and a great weekend!

that iced coffee looks way too addicting! love it!

Lo
oh dolly parton, so so wise!
What a quote to "run into" when you're in the midst of your job search. The veggies look yummy. I hope you guys are settling in.
HUGS.
I think it was in the air yesterday…I was a carb monster too!
Great quote!! It's true! Good luck with the applications – something WILL come your way
I want those corn muffins! Yum!
I can totally understand the whole job searching thing.. I did it for the past six months.. it is so stressful, annoying, frustrating and everything else in-between. After going on countless interviews I finally landed a job about a month ago and I really like it. SO just remember it takes time, whatever is mean to be will be, and never give up on what you really want
Good Luck!!!
Job searching can be exhausting in a mental way for sure. I know went through it like 6 years ago I spent 3 months sending out resumes and doing interviews…the good news that something works out and that you have a great attitude about it. I think you did jsut find with the eats!! I didn't see any "ate 3 bowls of ice cream" or "whole bag of cookies" in there
I can't wait for my POM stuff to get here. I'm excited!
