Oats in a Jar

Breakfast was one of those blog-world inspired meals – oats in a jar!

Behold, my empty jar of raw almond butter. :*(

The filling: 1/3 cup oats, water, cinnamon, half a gala apple.

Voila!

It was decent… actually a fairly “unsweet” bowl of oats – nothing wrong with that, except I think I’m used to making my oats in half soymilk/ half water, and with the fruit (either banana, apple or pear) cooked in with the oats longer.

Oats in a jar are ok and fun, but I don’t think they’re my favorite foodie discovery I’ve made through blogging. (Contenders would include different grains/ grain flours, spaghetti squash, honey crisp apples, sweet potatoes, coconut milk and more!).

I have a question for everyong. I feel like lately I’ve noticed strength training getting some crap for being boring and feeling like a chore. Tell me – if you don’t like strength training, why? What do you do for your strength training? I personally love it. I love finding new exercises to do, I love that I can multi-task while doing it (i.e. squats or side lunges with lateral raises while watching TV), and that you can randomly fill “time voids” with strength training. One example would be doing some counter dips or counter push ups while you’re waiting for something on the stove to finish cooking. Make it a game – see how many reps you can do before you need to stir/ take it off the stove. Then try to out do yourself. :)

I love strength training. It's my favorite, and honestly the reason I don't do more right now is because of marathon training. You'd better believe that come Dec 13th I will be hitting up the gym quite a lot!

I had oats in a jar for breakfast too!
I love to strength train, but if I am short on time, I always choose cardio. I love the multitasking of it!

Every balanced workout program should contain strength training including heavy weight bearing exercises. Bodyweight will only get you so far. Invest in a wide range of dumbellz if u can't afford gym memebership. For now I keep memebership because my asthma doesn't allow me to workout outside in the heart of winter or the suffocating summer heat. Thankfully I can justify $33/mo for gym

I happen to love strength training! On days when I don't go to the gym, my favorite thing to do is sit in front of the TV and do my squats, lunges, lift, etc. I'm not a runner and cardio had never been my favorite thing to do so I feel really great when I get a good strngth training in!

I hate strength training simply because I feel a little clueless about it when I'm on my own.

I go through stages with strength training. Right now I'm in the zone and do 20 minutes every morning, but there are times when I totally hate it. I love the results from it though – so gotta keep it up!

    I like your game idea!

Sorry you didn't like the oats in a jar.

I like strength training but HATE doing it at the gym. I don't like the environment and the equipment at my gym. For the past few nights I've done some strength training at home and am enjoying it so much more! I can play around with what I do and just change it up. I think this is going to help me a lot, especially with a Thursday toning class.

I had oats in a jar this morning too! : ) Ha, I wonder how many bloggers have oats in a jar on the same morning and don't even know it.

I love strength training. I do Body Pump a few times a week and have been pleased to notice what a difference it has made. Strength training options are endless and it's especially great when they can be done in front of the tv.
