Welcome to My Home

Hi friends. :) It’s time for a mini photo tour around my apartment! Let’s start where the themes of most blog posts begin – the kitchen! (click on photos to enlarge).

Welcome to My HomeIt’s a lot more roomy than our last kitchen. :) On the unseen side of the little half-wall we have the dishwasher and sink, and behind the Vera Bradley apron, we have the pantry and the laundry closet.

On the right we have the “dining room” featuring my poor man’s china cabinet. Let’s call it the frugal gal’s chic china display, k? ;)

 Welcome to My Home
Not much of a view from that window, and I actually keep it closed most of the time (the stairs are right outside of it, so I’m constantly getting startled when people walk by and sometimes look in – creepers!)

The dining room opens up to one huge open area where we also have the desk (against the kitchen half wall) and the living room.

 Welcome to My Home
You can see out the back patio we have our own little amazon swamp back there – it’s so full of trees you can barely even tell when it’s raining!

 Welcome to My Home
The double doors at the end/ side of the living room open up to our bedroom – definitely my favorite (and most tranquil!) room of the house.

 Welcome to My Home
I love the colors! Things that are also going to be changing – I’m going to get some grey or black and white print fabric to make new throw pillows and a “curtain” to hang over the bookshelf to make it look cleaner. I also HATE that cable to the tv – thinking the tv is coming out (currently provides me entertainment when I just can’t fall asleep at 2AM).

Other side of the bedroom:

 Welcome to My Home
The bedroom actually opens up to the bathroom/ vanity area.

Welcome to My Home Hooray for his & hers sinks! Actual bathroom (shower/ toilet) is through the door at the end.

These double mirror doors open up to our HUGE closet. Honestly – I tried to take a picture inside, but it would have taken at least 4 pictures for you to get the scope of it! If we didn’t store so much “stuff” in it (music, instruments, luggage, craft/ scrapbooking supplies) we could totally have a little office in there.

 Welcome to My Home
There you go! Maybe one day I’ll do a video tour, but for now pics will suffice. :) I was a little nervous about moving from a 2/2 apartment to a 1/1 apartment, but we definitely have not felt cramped or missed the space of an additional bedroom/ office at all.

Lunch today was a “Veggie Delight” ala Lindsey. :)

Welcome to My HomeEzekiel, hummus, avocado, cucumber, carrot, spinach, tomato, sprouts and dijon mustard with the other half of my apple from breakfast. Yum!

When we acquired our furniture and decorated, we did (and are still doing) everything on a very frugal budget. Would you guys be interested in frugal decorating/ home-making tips? I’d love to share, but I don’t want to bore y’all if no one cares. :)

See you later!

Great pics! Question: Did you spend all morning cleaning before you took these, or are they au natur-al?! Just wondering, and being onery!

You have a beautiful home…but I already knew that because love is what makes it anyway ;-)

    Corny but true…;-)

I think I have the same bedspread- mine's Laura Ashley? The extent of my frugal-ness is hand me down furniture, so I'd love tips!

Have a great rest of the day :)

Erica – ahahaha, no although I do admit to vacuuming right before I snapped pictures. I hate clutter, I can't think straight around it. :)

Ashley Lauren – nope! This is a sateen quilt by Nicole Miller.

Cute apartment! We have a lot of hand me down stuff, including some of my husband's childhood furniture! It works for us, and we can slowly replace old things with new things.
Could you staple the TV cord along the wall behind the dresser?

  • Mrs. LC

liveloveeatandplay – we thought about that, but we'd have to then have the cord blocking either the bathroom doorway or the doorway to the bedroom. Plus we'd need a lot longer of a cable cord. The cable jack is just at a really awkward place (there's no room for a tv where the jack is either, which is just silly). So we'll either just suck it up and go around/ watch our steps, OR take the tv out (which I've never been a fan of TVs in the bedroom anyway).

Aw, I love your new place!! I'd definitely keep a drape over that window to keep the creepers out! Your back patio looks gorgeous and I love your room!

I love your apartment. I have the same issue with my tv, it sit sjust like that on the dresser in the bedroom.

Your apt is sooooo cute and comfy, i love it!!! We can't have a China "cabinet" like that in CA since it isn't quite earthquake proof enough :D We have a big cabinet full of china and dishes at my house but everything is glued down! I would love to hear your frugal tips, my apt is still kinda bare :D

  • RunToFinish

to say I'm jealous of all the space you have in an understatement…going from a house to an apartment is going to be so hard!!

You are definitely making that place your own, love it

Oh, yes tips please! I'll be moving yet again in December before (hopefully) moving to the East Coast in the next 18 months. So I need all the help I can get.

Love your apt! And love veggie sammies!
