Last night was so much fun and brought back so many memories from high school! Particularly because it was also the high school’s homecoming game and I was on homecoming court my senior year, so I remembered all sorts of crazy things! I remember most of the marching band drummers being full of themselves, the pep rallys, the football players wearing their jerseys and the cheerleaders wearing their uniforms every Friday, the high schoolers acting like it’s their territory and they own the world…haha, wow. I think later on I may have to do a special flashback homecoming post, and share some photos of Ryan and I from back in the day! (We shared the same circle of friends in high school, so there are pics of all of us before the big homecoming dance, LOL!)
We grabbed some burritos at Moe’s with a giftcard for a fast and free dinner. (And we certainly didn’t eat in the car because I certainly didn’t make us late…) I had an Art Vandelay, Jr. (tortilla, black beans, rice, lettuce, salsa, guac, black olives, cilantro). Even with this junior burrito I was so full the rest of the night! I still feel full!

I’m pretty sure every high school around here has orange and blue as their school colors. Most of the crowd just wore their Gator gear.

Apparently Ross’ high school isn’t exactly known for their football…let’s just say that their homecoming game (which I always thought was supposed to be an easy win) may have resulted in a 54-0 loss. Ouch.
Over the course of the evening I met several of Ross’ students. All the kids I met were all girls and all proclaimed to be his favorite student and that they just loved his class, haha. Thanks to one of the students for snapping the pic of us though!

After the game was over we headed to the gymnasium for this “Fifth Quarter” post-game fun sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The school’s director of FCA had asked Ross to speak and share a little, so it was fun watching Ross talk and be in his element.

We got home pretty late, hence the reason for this recap now. I can’t believe it’s almost 9:30! I know I said I’d randomly choose the winner for the Thank You Giveaway this morning, but I need to get some errands taken care of! Guess you still have a little time to make sure you get your name in (and don’t forget that if you’re following me on twitter or if you did multiple entries, you still have to leave a separate comment for each entry).
Drawing will be this afternoon! See you later and have a fabulous Saturday!

you’re lucky I don’t have my scrapbooks with me…. I have the most amazing pic of you eating from homecoming…. haha…. talk about deer in the headlights! Have you seen or do you remember this pic?
Good times!
I vaguely remember this pic, and if it’s what I’m thinking of, we can leave it in your scrapbooks.
Thanks Abby. lol
It feels so surreal going back to HS days, huh? I know every time we walk into the gym for one of the kids’ games, it feels very familiar and not at the same time. And yes, the students have the “we rule” attitude…we never did that, did we?
Our church sponsored 5th Quarter back when my sister were in school, but haven’t done it in quite some time. It’s a wonderful thing! And yay for you and Ross to be part of it…that’s WORSHIP, ya know?!
Thanks for the comments you left me. Throughout the year they have enriched my journey so much. I believe God puts people in our path for a reason, and I’m so thankful that He put you in mine…or me in yours, whatever
Regardless I’m thankful! LOVE YOU!
Great pic of you two BTW
That whole football culture is extremely fascinating to me. We don’t have anything like that here in Portugal.
I’m so glad you had a good time. I can only imagine how many memories that would bring back for me. I was in court too. Actually once my Freshman year and then Senior year. I loved wearing the pretty dresses!
That Moe’s looks so good! There’s one by me but I’ve never been because I’m such a Chipots gal.
i just realized, looking at this, that i haven’t been to a hs football game in seven years. yikes i’m old!
aw! I always find it odd when Andy’s students tell me they love him. Always girls too. It’s hilarious to see my husband as a teacher.
I wish hs football was big up north, just so I could see what the hype was about!
Sounds like Ross is the “cute teacher” all the girls have crushes on!
