First Birthday

One year ago today I decided to start a blog and created my little nook in the cyber world over at Life According to Mrs. LC. If you go back to my early posts you’ll see that my style of blogging has evolved a lot, but that also mimics how much I myself have changed. There have been many good times and experiences that I’ve had and shared through the blog. Let’s take a look back at some of my fondest memories, shall we?

• Ross and I carved a pumpkin for the first time in our first apartment as newlyweds. It was a perfect mix of creativity, cuteness and power tools.

• I discovered memes through the blogworld, and discovered that cheesy though they may be, I rather enjoyed them!
• I voted in the last presidential election, and was frankly glad it was all over.
• I made some really weird (but delicious) cookies with hard boiled eggs.

• I went on my first blogger blind date where I met Caitlin for the first time (and discovered the awesomeness of the Orlando Whole Foods for the first time!)

• I crossed something off my bucket list when Ross surprised me with tickets to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert!

• I wrote my first really personal post on where I’m coming from. (Ironically little has changed – I’m still job searching, there are still health issues with my grandfather, my ideas are continually being challenged, and I still love blogging and the blogging community).
• I participated in my first Blogger Secret Ingredient challenge (with Pumpkin!)
• We threw a surprise party for my parent’s 25th anniversary.

• Ross and I decorated our first Christmas tree!

• I ran my first 5k, which is also where I met Meghann!

• I picked up a temporary position as an event planner at my old job.
• Ross and I went to St. Augustine for Valentine’s Day.

• I started teaching music part-time at an ESE preschool and elementary school.
• My sister and I donated our hair to Locks of Love.

• I got on a bike for the first time in over a decade.
• I celebrated my 22nd birthday and got my beloved DLSR (Nikon D40)!

• Ross and I went on a Caribbean cruise to celebrate our first anniversary! (Cruise Recap 1, 2, 3, and Food).

• We moved to Gainesville.
• I experimented with veganism and decided to have a vegan-based diet.
• After months of planning, waiting and setting up, I finally revealed my new (current) blog: Sound Eats!

There are many more  memories in there (most can be seen in the Popular Posts page) as well as a bunch of Recipes, but those are some of my favorite early and most recent memories.

I’ve met a lot of great people through blogging who have blurred the lines and crossed into real life friends, like Caitlin, Meghann, and Ashley. I’ve also had blogging reunite me with old friends: Ryan (friends from high school) and Megan (college roommates freshman year). I’ve been showered with support and love by the blogging community and I’ve been challenged to always be the best I can be.

I’m excited for what’s in store! I know I have more “old”/ real life friends who will be starting blogs soon (I really love it when friendships blur cyber and real life lines), I am still excited about Sound Eats, and I know there’s a lot in store for me in life! My hope is that Sound Eats becomes a more consistent place where you can find examples of easy vegan eats, great recipes, healthy balance, good photos and of course, the cheesiness of my husband and I.

It’s been a great year and I look forward to the next!
