Have you ever heard the quote, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans”? Well, I’ve experienced that quote in much larger life circumstances, but I kind of felt like that this afternoon. My plans were to go out for another run/walk interval workout, bake, walk to the grocery store for some supplies for the next week, go to the gym for a strength training session with Ross, and have a romantic evening of making dinner together. Well, here’s all I have to show from my afternoon:

A (really pretty and divinely scented) chocolate chip pumpkin loaf. I reduced the amount of sugar in it by two-thirds, but put some Florida crystals turbinado sugar on top to get that beautiful crunchy sweet crust.
As for the rest of my plans? Well, there was a constant thunderstorm all afternoon, so doing anything outside in the rain and lightning was a no-go. With the grocery store right next door, I couldn’t bring myself to drive over .25 miles. Then, once it finally started calming down, Ross came home and we somehow managed to pass out all cuddled up for over two hours! Friday night fail.
Since I hadn’t made the dough for the calzones yet, those got pushed back until later next week. We did our version of take-out, which is run next door to Publix to pick up a couple frozen pizzas. Gee, I wonder which one is his and which is hers…

I had part of an Amy’s Roasted Veggie No Cheese pizza. This pizza has grown on me tremendously. The first time I tried it was before I went vegan, and I was weirded out by the lack of a tomato sauce and the unique flavor of the sauce on it (I believe it’s just a roasted sweet onion puree?). Now? I can’t get enough. Can’t wait for leftovers tomorrow!
The only non-fail of this Friday night is that fact that I’m now currently chilling and watching cheesy Friday night TV (hello USA channel!) with my love. That and the cool front is showing itself and all my windows are open. I can’t wait for a cooler weather weekend!
So tell me, did you have a more exciting Friday night than me, or are you a homebody like myself?

Your Friday night sounds like a win to me. Sometimes laying low and hanging out at home are the best!
Your pizza sounds great, I want to try that. And I love your Friday night, Fridays are the best for resting. I happened to lay in my pajamas all evening long. And you made pumpkin loaf — big accomplishment and worthy of a nap.
I am definitely a homebody! I love the idea of a sweet onion puree on pizza – I’ll have to look for that one
I went from work to school. Then, I stopped by the mall to redeem my free VS panty and $10 off of any bra coupon. I arrived home in time to play with my daughter before I tucked her into bed. I am now starting my weekend of homework, studying and more homework… what has happened to weekends?
I’m definitely a homebody. I watched tv shows and went to bed around midnight
I haven’t had an exciting Friday night in years, but I’m getting old! My husband went to a concert with a friend; I stayed home with our 7 year old and did laundry. Here’s hoping that our Saturday nights are a little more thrilling!
Awww, you two love birds that is so sweet! My friday night consisted of getting dinner at Panera and then watching Big Blue Madness with my husband and dog. Josh is a huge University of Kentucky fan and it was like their kickoff to the basketball season. Let the madness begin!
I think cuddling up with your sweetie with some of that delish loaf qualifies as a success!!!!!!!
