Happy November! Now that Halloween has come and gone it’s time to get on to the real holidays! For me, Halloween is just ok and all it does is kick of the real holiday season! But before I get ahead of myself, let’s back it up and see what my Halloween was all about.
While my family ordered pizza from a favorite pizza place (Cosimo’s for any Sarasota dwellers out there!) my mom and I made a mini vegan pizza for me. It had dough (we picked up from Publix), sauce, crumbled tofu, spinach, mushrooms, roasted peppers and some vegan mozzarella.

I also enjoyed about half of this Dogfish Head Punkin Ale throughout the night.

While we were experiencing Trick or Treat FAIL (doorbell rang 4 times with a total of 11 kids) we attacked our pumpkin!

I wonder who the sane, calm one in our relationship is.

I take that back, he also plays with fire indoors (kids, don’t try this at home!)

We tried to come up with something mildly creative that we could do last minute that wouldn’t be a complete bust compared to last year’s Frankenstein Pumpkin. Enter: Vladimir, the cannibalistic pumpkin eating pumpkin.

hehe Vlad was supposed to look mean and menacing but he ended up looking kind of dumb, like a dog caught chewing on something he wasn’t supposed to be chewing on.
The rest of the night was spent watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and munching on a Whole Foods Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie!!!! (I love. Dear Whole Foods, please come to Gainesville. xoxo, moi).
Incredibly grateful for this morning’s extra hour of sleep, I made some vegan power scones! My mom wanted to show off her berry and chocolate chip scones, too (non-vegan).

My scones have whole wheat, seeds, nuts, dried fruit, cinnamon and more! (Recipe for Power Scones here). I had mine this morning with some pumpkin butter.

I was actually surprised at how well the scones turned out, and everyone seemed to enjoy them (even my dad, who is typically not a fan of whole wheat in baked goods).
Speaking of dried fruit, don’t forget that today is your last day to enter the Blogger Secret Ingredient – Dried Fruit challenge! You have until 9:00 tonight!
Also don’t forget to keep getting those votes in!
Now I’m off to workout, clean up, visit my aunt & grandmother, pack up and drive back to Gainesville! See you later tonight.
