Dear Blender, Dear Vita

Despite the cool air coming through my open windows I thought I’d still be able to get away with a smoothie at lunch.

Yup, I thought wrong. I just had a couple tortilla chips with spicy salsa to warm my mouth up and am curled in a fleece blanket. Being cold from the inside out is the worst!

The smoothie was worth it though. Smoothie in a bowl to be precise.

My smoothie contained:

  • 1 c. vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • chocolate brown rice protein powder
  • 1/2 a bag of spinach
  • ice

On top I sprikled what was sure to be an awesome batch of granola had I not burned it. What you see is on my smoothie is part of the small bit I salvaged.

Cranberry, Cashew, Coconut Granola

  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 cup dried unsweetened cranberries
  • 3/4 cup crushed cashews
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 2 T. canola oil
  • 2 T. maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Bake at 250 until lightly golden brown. (If it’s getting close don’t try to turn the oven temp up and turn your back for a few minuts. Not like I’m impatient and would try that or anything…).

Now I’d like to end this post with a few letters. Ahem.

Dear Blender,

Please don’t die. I know, I know – apparently you’re not a fan of greens. But green smoothies are so good for you and me, my dear. The thing is, I need you. You’re all I’ve got. I know you make a ton of grumbling noise but it’s ok. I’ll put up with your grumbles so long as you don’t leave me. I need you and you need me.

With needy love,

Moi

One more.

Dear VitaMix,

I think Blender is starting to catch on to our affair. I’ve been trying to keep quiet, especially around him, but it’s getting harder. He’s just getting lazier and angrier all the time. Please Vita, come live with me and I’ll get rid of Blender so fast it’ll make your blades spin. You’re the one I truly need and you are the one that truly holds the mix to my heart.

With borderline-obsessive love,

Linds

On that note, keep the votes coming in, we’ve only got until Friday! :)

I HIGHLY recommend the BlendTec blender over VitaMix; and I’ve had both.

LOL I need to try a green smoothie. My one attempt was a disaster! Um no Vita is going to come live with me. I can’t believe he’s been mixing it up with other people. I thought I was the only one.

I need to make my own granola. Ever since they stopped selling my FAVORITE brand here, I have been going through a good granola withdrawl. I think I just need to bite the bullet and make my own and you have inpsired me to do this.

I emailed you but I have to say, thanks again for your unbeleiveably sweet comment tonight. You are such a doll! :)

HAHA, never thought about having some hot salsa to warm up after my fave morning bfast of yogurt and frozen (thawing) berries ;-) Will have to try it sometime!

If you get a VitaMix, would you make me green smoothie?! Surely it will keep all the way to Missouri! Hehe ;-)
