Sneakers and Sushi

Despite lazing around the majority of the morning and early afternoon, I did manage some productivity today. In the midst of some errands I finally found some new shoes! I checked around a few stores to try to find the best deal I could, and did pretty well. I just got another pair of Asics. I loved my old ones and out of several that I tried, the Asics still felt the best. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Considering we were out and about and laziness was creeping back up on us (I swear, the weather has been a bad influence today!) Ross made the executive decision to pick up some sushi from Publix. I had a vegetable brown rice sushi roll.

P1080083 I then made the executive decision that Fresh Market’s brown rice vegetable sushi is by FAR greater than Publix’s brown rice vegetable sushi. After we ate I realized that tonight’s mediocre sushi experience will probably be more than made up for tomorrow night! I’m pretty excited. Even though I’m not working tomorrow there’s an event for work tomorrow night that Ross and I get to attend. It’s being catered by a sushi restaurant in town that Ryan has said great things about (Dragonfly Sushi). Can’t wait to try it out!

Before I head out tonight, I wanted to update you on the Give and Feel Good Challenge! I have been absolutely terrible about keeping you all updated on the blog about my personal giving, but I wanted to share a few things that I remember.

A note about the vegan chocolate chip cookies – I strayed just a bit from my original mission of recipe testing to create a recipe for the Whole Foods vegan chocolate chip cookies. I changed up one variable in the ingredients, but I loved the results. Pretty sure everyone else did too…let’s just say that the batch of two dozen I made last night didn’t last past mid-afternoon today. ;) I’m not totally sure I will post the recipe. I may keep it as my little secret…I seriously have spent countless hours into perfecting this recipe. But you never know, I just may release the recipe as my Christmas gift to you all later on. Cross your fingers and be good, Santa’s watching!

On that note, I’m out for the evening. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and getting back to healthy and productive habits. While today wasn’t completely unhealthy, it wasn’t as healthy as I prefer to be. Too much convenience and too many carbs, and not enough greens and sweat! I can’t wait to wake up and head to the gym to try out my new sneakers!! It’s the little things in life, right? :)

Good night!

I just bought a new pair of snearks too! Haha, it’s so funny because I just said how I went for another pair of Nikes due to my satisfaction with my last pair. I tried Asics but I can’t get a good feel for them. I think it’s all about what works for you! Glad you found a great pair and I am glad you had a great day hun!
    Love ya!

I LOVE how you clarified that just because your cookies are Vegan does not make them healthy! So many people assume my baked goods are “good for you” just because they are gluten and dairy free. hahaha I don’t get it, but okay!

I never think to get sushi but I really should since veggies and brown rice are perfect. I plan to check out Fresh Market soon.

I have for the first time ever been treating myself to Sushi from whole foods like every other week. I wasn’t sure if the stuff at Publix was as good quality or not, but if you eat it then I know it’s good!!!

It’s actually just ok. That’s why I mentioned that Fresh Market sushi is better than Publix. Haven’t had WF sushi in a while (no WF in Gainesville) but I thin it’s better than Publix, too. Fresh Market’s rice is a lot better, more “authentic”. Publix rice isn’t flavored quite right and is too dry for sushi rice. They’d prob tell you it’s because it’s brown rice, but other places do a much better job with brown rice.

I can’t find brown rice sushi anywhere around here! It’s awful. Hope the catered party is delish :)
