It’s official. I am definitely powered by plants. More on that in a bit!

This morning I headed to the gym for a good, but not too intense workout. (I knew I’d be on my feet all afternoon and night at work, setting up and tearing down the clinic and other areas, plus running around, so I didn’t want to overdo it).

  • Arm Curls (biceps) – 25 lbs, 3×10
  • Shoulder Press – 25 lbs, 3×10
  • Tricep Press – 60 lbs, 3×10
  • Chest Press – 60 lbs, 3×10
  • Butterfly – 30 lbs, 3×10
  • Lateral Pull Down – 60 lbs, 3×10
  • Elliptical, 30 minutes – levels 8-11

Home, shower, snack while lunch was cooking – a serving of multi grain pita chips and 1-2 servings hummus. LOVE this hummus.

Lunch was a salad of mixed greens topped with the last of last night’s roasted vegetables and a serving of tofu. Basically the same thing as last night’s salad minus the kabocha and avocado. (Please excuse the tupperware, I was preparing to bring it with me on the drive to work had I needed to).

I also packed up some snacks to fuel me through work. I ended up not needing that Larabar. Know why?

Because I am POWERED BY PLANTS! I found this bottle of Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness smoothie buy one get one free at Publix yesterday. I picked up two, thinking it’d be a great way to get some extra veggies and fruits during my Monday and Thursday work at the clinic when I’m on my feet running around nearly the entire time. Wow, I was not expecting how awesome this was. Previously I’d eat half a bar or a similar snack, but something about drinking 3 and 3/4 servings of fruits and veggies powered my through my afternoon and night. I didn’t have a single moment of overwhelming exhaustion. Yes!  Now I just need a juicer so I can juice my own juices to power me through clinic work!

Once work was over Ross and I decided cooking was out, so we met for an impromptu dinner date at our favorite fast food eatery. Say it with me….”welcome to Moe’s!!” I’m sorry if it seems like we go to Moe’s so much, but with the Joey Junior/ Big Moo being only $3.99 and such a balanced vegan meal, it is by far my favorite option for fast vegan food out. Plus it pleases carnivores too. ;)

I had my standard “Big Moo” of tortilla, tiny bit of rice, black beans, lots of guac, lettuce, pico de gallo, cilantro and black olives. Yum!

On that note, I’m out! I have a lot to do between now and tomorrow morning. There is a VERY fun and exciting weekend ahead starting tomorrow, including a day trip to Orlando, a girl’s day, shopping, Whole Foods, NEW MOON, and then coming back to Gainesville on Saturday morning when my SISTER will be stopping by for the weekend (she’ll be heading south to Sarasota for Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving for me is with Ross’ family this year – we alternate holidays).

Q of the Day: For those of you with significant others, how do you do holidays? Ross and I did our own things with our own families until we got engaged, and then we started splitting holidays – Thanksgiving with his family (they all travel to north Florida and Alabama) and Christmas with mine one year, then swap the next and continue that pattern every year.

  • Ha ha, we do the exact same holiday swapping as you guys. We’re having Thanksgiving with my husband’s family and Christmas with mine. I used to love those Bolthouse Farms drinks but I haven’t had one in forever, going to have to try one again!

  • I love that Bolthouse Farms drink! I have it all the time, it is so filling. I usually make my own juice in the morning but then when I get hungry I have the Bolthouse to hold me until lunch. So good!

There is one Moe’s in NYC and it is nowhere near me. :(

Rob and I never had to choose between families. His family is kinda brilliant and they always do Thanksgiving on the Saturday after Thanksgiving day to ensure everyone can come! On Thursday, everyone can go to their significant others’ families. So on Thanksgiving day we will be at my family, Saturday at his. We’re Jewish so Christmas isn’t an issue and for Passover, he came to mine. It wasn’t a big deal at all!

  • That salad looks fantastic! Good luck getting everything done. That’s great you have a fun weekend to look forward to :)

  • didnt know publix made hummus! YUMMM! im excited now!

  • yay for the weekend coming up! i can’t wait to see all the things you do and get!!!

  • We usually do Thanksgiving with his family, because his birthday is also that week. Then Christmas with my family! We’re solving the problem of what to do for holidays when we move out to NY by having next Christmas at our new place!

  • My husband is obsessed with Bolthouse…when Publix has it buy one get one, he goes nuts. I think a juicer might be a cost-saver!

  • I love that green drink! I had it during the summer when I was home and it was def on my top list of juices.

For Christmas we normally spend it in Canada. Since we live in England all year long and can see my Hubby’s family in only a 5 min drive away we usually decide to high tail it to Canada for the holidays. Hubby doesn’t mind! He loves the change of scenery!

  • We split each year too. I definitely prefer all holidays with my family! Ha. I am so selfish.

I love how filling smoothies are! I have a juicer but we never use it. We should!
