Gym and Green

It’s rather appropriate that green is a favorite color of mine, because I was certainly fueled by green today! After I shared my Thanksgiving menu with you guys I headed to the gym.

  • elliptical, 20 minutes (weight loss mode – i.e. intervals –)
  • Hip and Thigh (Inner and Outer) Extensions and Flexions (50 lbs, 2×10 per exercise per side)
  • Leg Extension (Quads) (50 lbs, 2×10)
  • Lateral Pull Down (70 lbs, 2×10)
  • Planks (3×45 seconds)
  • Decline Crunches (150)
  • Reverse Crunches (55)
  • Oblique Crunches (where you’re holding yourself up vertically on a machine – 20 per side)
  • Standing Oblique Flexions (20 lbs, 4×15)
  • ABCs (squating and arms with a 5 lb weight to spell the alphabet)
  • Overhead Arm Extension (20 lbs, 3×10)
  • Lateral Arm Raises (5 lbs, 3×10)

I came back and feasted upon this delicious smoothie with spinach, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, brown rice protein powder, almond milk and ice. I topped it with some granola which totally makes the smoothie a thousand times better. :)

I also packed this Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness drink for work – love them, although I’d love to be able to make my own juices (I’m not a fan of the banana in these smoothies – it’s my only complaint though!).

For any potential down moments where I’d need a caffeine boost, I also packed a big bottle of unsweetened iced mint green tea. Wheee! The larabar went uneaten in favor of half an odwalla bar that was already open in my purse. Waste not, want not!

I rushed home from work to this absolutely amazing dinner I had ready and waiting. Before I left for work I took 1.5 cups of a 7 bean and barley soup I got from a Whole Foods bulk bin and threw it in the crock pot with a box of organic vegetable stock and another 3 cups of water. When I got home I just added a few handfuls of spinach that I roughly chopped ad voila! Served with some avocado and a delicious doughy roll. Pure love right there. ;)

On that note, I am off for the evening! Castle is on and Ross and I both love this show, so it’s bye bye laptop time, hello cuddle time! I’m such a cheese. ;)

The granola makes it look so pretty, too! Your dinner looks great, too–I totally want a crock pot. Have a great night!

Awesome workout! I also love the SIAB..but I will be honest, it weirds me out to eat a smoothie with a spoon in a bowl! I will have to try it sometime. I’m sure it’s awesome, but still! :) Great workout! Oh and that crock pot meal looks SO yummy and comforting! :)

That soup looks great. I’ve been craving 15 bean soup, so you just upped the ante. I love the idea of avocado on top!

I adore Castle too, but have been watching it online. 10pm start time shows aren’t working for this “old” woman teacher…I don’t know how Ross does it!
