Home sweet home, back in Gainesville.
Our last night in Sarasota was quite relaxing as we hung out with my family around a pit fire outside. Unfortunately it was also when it started to get cooler and windier in Florida, so the fire really didn’t provide much warmth for me! Still fun and pretty to look at though.
Breakfast this morning was quick and easy since Ross and I were starting to pack up and head home. I had an English muffin with peanut butter and a mug of organic sencha green tea. I like my tea straight up – no milk, no sweetener.
Unfortunately traffic was mind-blowingly awful today. We left Sarasota around 11:30, which should have put us back around 2:00 or a little earlier. We didn’t arrive to Gainesville until 5:00, and still had to go grocery shopping. Oh well, what can ya do?! We even got off the interstate at one point to grab some lunch and hopefully wait for the traffic to die down. It didn’t work, but at least we got to enjoy an impromptu adventure and lunch date.
We stopped at our favorite – Moe’s! I had an Art Vandaley Junior (black beans, rice, guac, lettuce, salsa, cilantro, black olives) burrito.
Once we got back to Gainesville we made our way to my favorite local grocery store – Ward’s! I felt giddy to be shopping for produce again. You would not believe the amount of produce I walked out of there with, and for such a great price! Red baby potatoes, fresh spinach, fresh kale, 2.5 lbs organic apples, organic avocado, 3 zucchini, 3 cucumbers, 2 lbs carrots, 3 lbs onions, garlic, tofu hot dogs (on sale!), 3 red bell peppers, 1 lb mushrooms, 1.5 lb pears, 1 lb tomatoes, broccoli and an eggplant for $26.77! Add in some bananas from Publix and other non-produce essentials and my fridge and cupboards are overflowing. I love a freshly stocked kitchen.
Due to the late hour some un-pictured Stacy’s multigrain pita chips and Publix hummus made an excellent appetizer while we unloaded. Dinner was quite delicious – I used some dough from Publix and stuffed it with a vegetable mixture (zucchini, red bell pepper, mushrooms, black olives, tomato, garlic, herbs), vegan cheeze and marinara sauce. We used some leftover dough to make some garlic breadsticks.
So delicious and such a comforting meal. And I’m going to go ahead and throw out there that Ross took the above picture – thanks honey! Your DSLR skills are improving.
Time to relax! Maybe make some of my chocolate chip cookies? I’ve been craving a good chocolate chip cookie for a while now! I can’t wait to get going on this upcoming week. I feel like there are so many potential changes that can start this week alone, along with several other special events with special people! Plus it will be cold this week (by Florida standards) – Tuesday’s high is 49!! I’m so excited! I think y’all know by know how much I don’t want to stay in Florida forever.
Have a wonderful night!

Fires are so pretty! I could seriously stare at it for hours, ha. So comforting.
I like my tea straight up too. Add anything to it and…yuck! I especially love the clear mug. I’m going to have to find myself one of those
I hear ya on warmer Florida weather. It is cold up here in NC for us Florida girls : )
Hope you have a great week, sounds like you got a lot of fun things going on!! : )
I love buying tons of produce too. I need to get on the ball with that. It’s so nice to have tons of fresh fruit and veggies to pick from.
As always, your calzones look tasty! And I need to try making them. And making dough too!
Hey, nice! I love hummus. I tried it with Kangaroo brand pita chips, I think? Anyway, yeah!!
