Sicky

Sad news: I’m sick! I now can no longer say, “I’ve yet to get sick since I’ve gone vegan!” While I still believe that my standard diet and lifestyle aids me in my health, it’s really no surprise I’m stuck with a nasty head cold now. With all the personal, work and school stress, not being able to work out, the weather, not properly rehydrating and re-balancing my body after getting bloodwork done, it’s no wonder my immune system was compromised!

We started yesterday sleeping in, since between my cold and the icy roads (what? In Florida?! I know!) we weren’t going to be heading to church. The all-time easy breakfast came into play with generic brand raisin bran and almond milk.

Most of my day was spent on the couch with a movie marathon. I did break for snacks, including this awesome super-thick smoothie topped with granola. I tossed a little bit of frozen mango and frozen strawberries into my VitaMix, along with 2 oranges that I simply peeled. It was after I already started blending that I realized there were still seeds in the oranges! Good thing the VitaMix pulverized ‘em! Love it!

I also snacked on some edamame. Just may be my current favorite snack. :) (Oh yeah – this is pretty much my exact position for most of the day!)

For dinner Ross and I just split an Amy’s No Cheese Roasted Veggie Pizza that I added some mushrooms and vegan cheeze to.

When we were at Whole Foods on Saturday night we picked up these two new (to me, at least) flavors of coconut milk ice cream: Cherry Amaretto and Chocolate Brownie Almond. At times when cold things feel good on sore throats, some sampling naturally ensued. ;) We loved these flavors! Our new favorites, for sure.

Definitely recommend with two thumbs up! (And no, the company did not send these samples or pay me to say that. They actually ignored my email, which is why I’ve never given them any recommendations on the blog previously.)

    Aw girl, that’s no way to spend a Sunday…so sorry you’re sick! I hope you feel better soon <3

    I have been seeing these other versions of ice cream out there in the blog world and some supermarkets and I know that there are some made of soy (which I have to avoid). Does this particular one contain soy?? I could lick that Chocolate Brownie Almond right off the screen, pretty much ;-)

    I hope your feeling better. Ice cream is what the doctor says to eat each day after listing the apple. :)
