Happy Thursday (which are Fridays to me!). Yes! So ready for a productive and fun weekend!
This morning I awoke with a need to juice. A fresh, vibrant, nutrient-packed juice sounded awesome, and I hadn’t used my juicer in a week. The horror!
The goods:
Spinach, two juicing oranges, an apple, a carrot and a 1/3 cup of pomegranate arils. The result? Deliciously refreshing!
I forgot to show you all my stockpile of oranges: check it out! A produce drawer full and a target bag busting at the seems!
There was another bag of oranges, too! And it was all free and about as local and organic as you can get! My boss and his wife have a juicing orange tree in their back yard and despite doing nothing to it, it produces a ton of fruit! Instead of letting it go to waste, I’ve gotten two hauls! Ross and I certainly don’t mind.
I also tried juicing pomegranate arils for the first time this morning – I adore pomegranates and pomegranate juice!
As I was delving into my pomegranate I realized that life is like a pomegranate. (Who says it has to be all about a box of chocolates?) Seriously though – you really don’t know what you’re going to get with life, and the same goes with pomegranates. Everyone has their own “right” way of getting into the pomegranate, just as everyone has their own ways of going about their lives. Life is unexpected, with new pockets of trials, excitement, changes and more at every turn. Pomegranates are the same, as you think you’ve found a wedge of pomegranate arils, only to find a hidden compartment of more arils underneath! It takes time, and with both life and pomegranates you get out of it what you put into it. The reward is amazing, though. Just as a life of working hard is rewarding, if you stick to your pomegranate dissection, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful, jewel-like arils.
OK, I’ll stop my philosophical waxing for the morning.
I’ve just been in a very contemplative mood recently!
What have you been contemplating lately?

Ha, my guess was: seedy? lol thank you for that philosophical thought this morning.
P.S. the juice looks fantastic.
Whoa, I think you are all set on oranges for awhile!
Love the pomegranate comparison
Love your “life is like a pomegranate” philosophy! Very true.
As far as what I’ve been contemplating, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about women and body image. Sometimes it feels like we’re all set up to fail in the self-love department, and I don’t want that to be the case for my girls.
By the way, your juice looks amazing!
I have never tried pomegranate but I really need to! Your philosophy was beautiful just like you
Okay this may sound like a ridiculous question . . . which orange is a juicing orange?? are they just too ripe to be eaten? i am embaressed to even ask!! I just got a juicer and am floundering!
Haha I love that! Life is like a Pomegrante!
Great words to live by.
Glad you are looking forward to a great weekend hun.
pom arils are so pretty too! I love them!
Lucky you, getting all of those oranges!
life is totally like a pomegranate!
Good comparison. And sometime life can be messy and it takes work and effort.
I just bought a huge bag of clementines.
So true!!!!
Love the comparison!
I love this metaphor! Pomegranates are so fun and interesting, sometimes messy, but delicious in the end
