Hey friends! Before I get back to “normalcy” I just wanted to give you all an update.
My grandfather is being moved to a rehab facility tomorrow where he’ll start speech, physical, and occupational therapy. Yay!
We just heard that they think Roman is suffering from exertion induced seizures. Roman has cerebral palsy (he’s pretty high functioning though), so a lot of "normal" activities can aren’t so “normal” and effortless for him. Plus he’s at that age (17) where you just want to fit in, be one of the guys, and do all the things your friends are doing. They think between over-doing it in his weightlifting class on Friday and do "push ups for points" for every touchdown at a Super Bowl party Sunday night, something triggered the seizures. They’re running an EEG to see if there’s a minute brain bleed contributing to memory loss, but for now they’re putting him on a medicine for the seizures. Once the seizures stop he will be able to stop taking the medicine and he should be back to normal!
Whew! Now we just have to keep everyone out of the hospital!!
Today was strange. I don’t know if I was just stressed, overwhelmed, feeling a cold coming on or if it was the rain and dreary weather we had all day, but I was exhausted and had a splitting headache! Fortunately it was nothing two tylenol, a luna bar, lots of water and a nap when I got home couldn’t take care of.
Pre-work I had a bowl of Kashi Oat Flakes and Wild Blueberry Clusters cereal with unsweetened almond milk. I know, I’m in a rut with breakfasts this week! I promise something new tomorrow.
Post-work and pre-nap I had some soothing and comforting savory oats. These oats contained 1/3 cup of oats, a glob of hummus, and cooked veggies of mushrooms, bell pepper, brussel sprouts, kalamata olives, tomato and olives. Lots of garlic powder and oregano and a sprinkle of kosher salt finished it off.
This is how I really eat it – all messy, but with a little bit of everything in each bite.
Post-nap and getting stuff done was day 2/90 – Plyometrics. Let’s just suffice it to say even Tony says it’s the “mother of all P90X workouts” and I already feel sore everywhere. Tomorrow. Morning. Will. Stink. But it’ll pay off, and that has me so excited!!
Dinner was honestly not desired. I was so tired I just wanted to do nothing, but I still forced myself to shower and make a balanced meal. Stir fry it is! I steamed some bok choy, red bell pepper, eggplant and carrots with dried ginger, garlic powder, and Whole Foods Soy Ginger Sauce (love it, must get more!). To add a little more balance I added some pan-seared crispy tofu and another dollop of hummus. I’ve been all over the creaminess hummus lends to things lately!
I promise there were veggies in there, see?
On that note, it is time to crash. I just stretch backwards and owwww it hurt. Tomorrow morning is going to be fun getting out of bed!!!

Yay, glad to hear things are looking up on the family health front!
I love Plyo and hate it at the same time. Stir fry looks yummy
i’m so glad to hear that your grandfather is being transferred to a rehab facility – I was in one as well this past June after my big flare-up, and did physical/occupational therapy and strength exercise – those rehab centers work wonders! I credit them for being able to walk today!
your family are in my thought and prayers
((hugs))
Get some rest my love.
Yum, you can’t beat a good stir-fry! I had one today too.
Plyo is my favorite P90X workout, it is definitely the mother of all workouts in the set.
Your family is in my prayers.
Glad you are liking the P90X workouts. There is such talk about these that I am just so curious to try it. I hear it’s killer and I can imagine it would be.
Hope you are having a great week girl!
Linds lots of hugs to u and your fam
So glad to hear things are looking up!!
xxoo
Hi Lindsey,
My dad has seizures & I know for him, the triggers (beyond not taking his anti-seizure medication, which is obviously not the case from Roman since he doesn’t have a seizure disorder) are excess exertion combined with not enough food or sleep. These things are all magnified on hot days.
I am glad they are getting Roman sorted out – the memory thing can be scary, that happens to my dad every time after he has a seizure, but only for an hour or two. He tends to forget what day it is and basic info, but all the long term (his name, my name, etc.) sticks around. It’s basically massive confusion.
Best wishes!
Errign
SUCH GOOD NEWS!!! Love ya!
So glad to hear your grandfather is doing better! And good to hear you’re liking the workouts! I’ve heard they are killer. Hurts so good
Glad to here that your fam is on the mend. As for the plyometrics video. woah. I have to say that I’ve NEVER finished the whole thing…I’ve not even attempted!!
Glad to hear about Roman and Pap. I hope medical care can work its wonders on both of them!!
im so happy to hear the family updates (even though im late!) a few days ago i was doing intervals on the treadmil, and during every time i RAN instead of looking at the clock and counting down, I spent the time praying my way through the running time; specifically for you and your family! [this praying during running thing may be my no go-to training plan. it not only works my body, but my heart as well!]
I am going to have to try the savory oats soon! they look SMASHING!
