Dinner, a Movie and Champagne

This afternoon we ended up going to a matinee showing of The Blind Side. I was actually surprised it was still in theaters! I was also surprised that apparently matinee movie times end at 3:00, so we got charged full evening-showing admission price for our 3:45 “matinee”. Absurd! I shouldn’t be surprised though, I know how cheap and miserly I can be. ;) It’s exactly why we hardly go to movies!

We came home and started enjoying more champagne. Thanks to Ross for the fun picture!

DSC_1978 Dinner was actually a mish-mosh that we threw together, but it actually worked well! We enjoyed roasted asparagus (always a favorite!), a leftover chickpea cutlet with mushrooms cooked in a lemon-champagne-olive oil sauce, and “mashed potatoes” which actually contained no potato! They were actually steamed cauliflower that I blended with a bit of garlic powder, kosher salt and olive oil, just like I would season potatoes. So fun! I’ll definitely be doing this again!

Not quite as elaborate as last year’s day trip to St. Augustine and a Surf and Turf celebratory meal, but it was fun, perfect for us and vegan! :)

Time to go finish off the last of the champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. See you in the morning!

Anyone else lucky enough to have tomorrow off? I have work, but Ross has off. I hate when that happens!

Movies are so damn expensive! I’ve been wanting to see the blind side but I’m waiting for it to in to our $1.50 theatre! I just recently discovered the awesomeness on mashed cauliflower, it’s soo good!

I love cauliflower mashies!! I remember the mantinee use to be anything before 6pm. My theater has all sorta of runs now that movies cost more on the weekends (friday and saturday night) and just super expensive. I try to go on the cheap night which is Tuesday for only $6. However that really isn’t cheap and ohhh yeah I always bring my own drinks and snacks

How was the film? I really want to see it – Sandra Bullock is one of my favourite actresses!

Love your mashed cauliflower idea – will have to give that a try
