The second week of P90X followed the same format as the first week, except I made a couple changes:
Day 1: Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X
Day 2: Plyometrics
Day 3: Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X (also did Cardio X)
Day 4: Yoga X
Day 5: Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X
Day 6: Kenpo X (also did Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X since I felt nasty on Friday)
Day 7: Rest or X Stretch
In all areas I saw improvement from Week 1! I upped my weights in all areas, I moved from using a light resistance band to doing assisted pull ups, did more and had better form in push ups, and more!
I love days like Wednesday when I do the scheduled workout (Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X) and add on Cardio X, too. It makes me feel even stronger in my pursuit of weight loss, and I feel really hardcore.
I’m hoping to do at least two doubles workouts like that this week!
Yoga X was also much better this week. If you remember from Week 1, I was a mess. I lasted a half hour before ditching it out of extreme anger and frustration, and let my frustrations loose in Cardio X. This week I actually did Yoga X! I think the biggest thing was for me to realize that it’s not the same yoga that I’m used to. Tony Horton is much better suited as a strength and “normal” P90X workout coach than he is a yoga instructor. There’s even a point at the end when he starts yelling at one of the participants, telling them to do more, go higher, longer, further. He even says, “I know I’m not supposed to yell at you in yoga, but I just want you to push yourself and to succeed!” (that was paraphrased). But for me that’s not yoga, at least not the yoga I know. Yoga is so much more than poses, flows, “insert a push up here”, etc. Because of this, I put the Yoga X dvd on my laptop (with TweetDeck OFF and no access to Internet!) and I actually kept the morning news on the tv in the background. With the news on, it was just the perfect amount of distraction I needed to take the Tony edge off.
So not “real” yoga, but making do!
The only other thing to report is that for both Ross and I, our hamstrings and glutes were SORE today! He didn’t do Legs & Back on Friday either, since I didn’t do it because I felt so sick and exhausted all day, so we both did it on Saturday, along with Kenpo. Wow, that’s a lot of legs! It was fun though.
As far as results, we’re already both starting to notice a little improvement in definition of our arms, legs, glutes, and abs. I’m just hoping to get good results at the end!
Is it weird that we’re already planning on doing the whole P90X cycle right over again? We really love it!
Can’t wait to see what improvements Week 3 holds! It’s our last full “real” week of Phase 1, since the following week is our first recovery week. Time flies when you’re having fun! (True story: I actually didn’t want to take a rest day yesterday, I missed working out!)

The legs and back workout still gets me and I’ve done it for 6 months now. I am always sore for a day or two but I guess that’s a good thing. Are you a Beachbody Coach? I don’t see anywhere on your site saying you are. To learn more go to MyHealthyFitLife.com. You get discounts on the products and can even earn some money. I like doing it as it keeps me accountable to working out. Feel free to contact me about it. Stick with P90X. I went from doing 2 total pull ups with legs and back to 82 at the end of 90 days. Bring it!
Awesome job. Keep up the great work. Amazing how much your body can change in 90 days.
I think what you are doing is great and I am glad that you are experiencing such great results with the P90X. There is a coaching option that Beachbody offers. Watch the video at the link below and get back with me on what you think. Good luck with th rest of your workouts and life after P90X!
