Cheers for Sleep

MaraNatha winner announced at the end!

Fifteen thousand cheers for Friday!!! :D

Can we just pause a moment and talk about how truly wonderful sleep is? I am so convinced that a good night’s sleep is an elixir for most everything. I felt so physically off yesterday, and it culminated in awful joint pains in my legs (anyone else get like that when they’re crazy tired?). I. passed. out. I don’t even know how long I slept but I woke up and felt absolutely amazing this morning! More cheers for sleep!

Breakfast was another one of my super health nut chocolate shakes. Love it! Each time I make it I tend to vary it up a little bit and today was no exception.

  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 Tablespoon ground flax seed
  • 1 Tablespoon raw sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup frozen dark sweet cherries (make sure there is no added sugar in your frozen fruit!)
  • 1 Tablespoon chocolate brown rice protein powder
  • 1/2 Tablespoon cocoa powder
  • a few ice cubes
  • TONS of spinach (I seriously just pack my VitaMix full)

Word to the wise – if you want it sweeter and more “shake” like, add more frozen  fruit (addition frozen cherries, frozen banana, frozen mango, etc.).

P.S. Big ol’ mason jars are THE coolest vessels for smoothies around. Just FYI. ;)

Between a great night’s sleep and this kickin’ smoothie, I am SO ready to tackle this day!

  • online nutrition class work
  • P90X Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X (bring it!)
  • cleaning
  • make homemade  granola bars
  • finish setting up the Healthy Living Blogs database! (crossing fingers no more bumps come up!)
  • think of fun things to do to kick off Ross’ bday week! (his birthday is on Wednesday)
  • have fun! :D

    Yum, I think I’m going to have a spinach smoothie this morning, too! Frozen cherries are such a treat but for some reason I rarely buy them. My “go to” frozen fruit for them is blueberries + banana.

    Love that you drink it out of a mason jar :) I wish I had a straw this morning!

    I totally agree with you about the sleep … I NEED my sleep. I am not one of those people that can function on like 5 hours … I will puke. LOL.
