Congratulations winners! Please send your full name and address to lindsey at soundeats dot com and I’ll mail out your coupon for a free bottle of Simply Orange!
(Oh – I need to share with you guys something! If you’re a fan of the Raspberry Simply Lemonade, which I know many of you are, try adding some club soda to it! It’ll make it last longer and it creates a not-as-sweet sparkling lemonade. I’m in love!)
Food
Something interesting has happened since ditching my vegan diet one week ago. I am no longer hungry all the time. It is so clear to me now that my body thrives better on more protein. Carbs just don’t keep me full. In addition to feeling better and more energetic, I am having more energy on less calories – it’s kind of cool, for someone who used to fight being hungry all the time.
My favorite meal of the day so far? This egg white omelet that had three egg whites, a piece of Canadian bacon, half a slice of monterey jack cheese, spinach, baby bella mushrooms, baby heirloom tomatoes, hot sauce, garlic powder, sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. So good!
Links
Let’s share some link love on this gorgeous Friday! Here are some things that have caught my eye today:
- Brie (The Fit Bride)has a wonderful, tear-jerking post up on her father and why she’s running with Team in Training for the Chicago Marathon. (Help her raise money here!)
- KFC’s New Double Down (I can’t talk about this. I thought it was an April Fool’s joke that was still up when I first saw it. I still don’t fully believe this is real. Please wake up America, please. Oh, but the good news is, KFC is donating all the now-unnecessary buns to food banks. Awesome. I better go out and get a Double Down ASAP!)
- My friend Becka brought my attention to Walk in My Shoes and Lauren’s Kids. This is a fabulous organization whose mission is to prevent sexual abuse through awareness and education, and to help survivors heal with guidance and support. Please check out Becka’s post on it, as it’s much more eloquently written than I ever could write, and please also check out the Lauren’s Kids website, too. Orlando friends – the Walk in My Shoes will be in Orlando tomorrow! Head out to support!

So interesting about your hunger level and protein. I definitely have found a similar thing. Carbs fill me up in the short term but not so much in the long term.
I thought the Double Down was a joke, too! It just breaks my heart. What is wrong with the world?!

You’ve inspired me to try upping my protein intake. I rely on a lot of carbs and am hungry ALL the time. Especially while training for races. I feel like I could eat my entire fridge.
The double down absolutely disgusts me!
yay for eating meat! i eat it occasionally because like you, i find i dont do well solely on veggies and bread…my bod loves protein and I feel less jiggly? hmmm anywoo, love u and love that ur listening to the bod….

lolo
have a beautiful weekend dolL!
The double-down is INSANE and I’m more than mildly disgusted by it. It’s not so much the sandwich itself…just the idea – no bread…just more meat???? Yikes.
oh I know – it boggles my mind that people think it’s ok to eat a sandwich that is made up entirely of fried chicken, bacon, two kinds of cheese and the Colonel’s “Special Sauce” (which I’d bet money is mayo-based).
I feel my arteries clogging and my organs shutting down just thinking about it.
