I think the favorite meal for Ross and I to make together is pizza. Sure, we can make many more things, but there’s something fun about pizza. Maybe it’s the romance as we channel memories of our trip to Italy in ’07, maybe it’s the culinary efforts of two people culminating in one delicious final product, who knows. All I know is my husband and I love to make and eat homemade pizza.

This was our first pizza in our new home, and we were sharing it with friends, so we did all we knew to do to make it the best we could.
Step one: pizza stone. Nothing gets the dough as crispy on the bottom as a pizza stone. Nothing! If you’re worried about it sticking, just spread a little cornmeal on the stone before stretching out the dough.
Step two: good dough. We actually gambled with this today, as we used a dough we hadn’t tried before. On our way back from our North Carolina trip, we stopped at Trader Joe’s, and among things I picked up were two of their balls of whole wheat pizza dough for 99 cents each. I loved this dough, and only wish there was a TJ’s near me so I could pick up this cheap whole wheat dough more frequently!
Step three: fast and easy sauce. Sure, if I was really gourmet (and if I hadn’t just moved a week ago) I could have made my own sauce, froze some, blah blah blah. Wellllll sometimes I just want something fast. I love this light Ragu sauce because it’s a basic tomato sauce but with less added sugar and oil than most jarred tomato sauces. (Note: Ragu did not pay me to say that, nor did they send me the sauce. I bought it with my own money and wanted to share one of my pantry staples with y’all.)
Step four: good toppings. I had our two favorite pizza cheeses on hand – fresh mozzarella and parmesan. I also sliced some button mushrooms and added some thawed chopped frozen spinach. To finish it all off I sprinkled fresh ground pepper, oregano, garlic powder and fresh basil from my patio.
Step five: high heat. Not only will this get a crispy crust and bubbly cheese, but it will also make your cook time faster. And lets face it. The faster the pizza gets in my belly, the happier place my home is.
Before I head out, I know I’ve been promising pictures of our new home, so here’s one to hold you over. I still need to get some things hung on the walls, in addition to finish making the curtain rod for the 154" patio doors, but here’s an idea of the main living area. I love how spacious it is!!
What’s your favorite meal to make with someone?

Hunni and I love to make home made pizzas too. His has more cheese and usually that’s it. Mine has anything I feel like grabbing out of the fridge that day. It is our go to meal when we don’t know what to cook.
I just read the other day that Trader Joe’s pizza crust is actually made by Il Fornaio. No wonder it’s so delicious!
This sounds like so much fun!!! I love baking at Christmastime with my nieces and nephews. I hope that they will remember those memories for years to come.
Pizza is one of our favorite things to make together too. Lately, we’ve been so into making pizza on the grill. You should definitely give this a try.
The new home looks great! So happy you are settling in!
what kind of pizza stone do you have? i’m looking to get one but i’m still shopping around… if you could let me know, that would be great. thanks!

and yes, ragu light is so much better w/ less sugar! nom nom!
Beautiful living room! And you’re making me crave some homemade pizza dough. I’m thinking of pulling out the bread machine today but for Peanut Butter boy’s cocoa bread, can’t wait!
but I’ll post about Brisbane soon!
Hope you’re doing well! I’ve been slacking on blogging again but for good reason, my computer has a virus and all my trip journals are inaccessible
