Yesterday was a beautiful day that Ross and I both fortunately had off! We decided to balance some work and fun by choosing some activities we each wanted to do, plus things we both wanted to do. Long walk on the beach (me), lunch at TacoLu (both), watching StarTrek episodes (Ross), shopping (me), and a pizza from Mellow Mushroom (both – we compromised on the pizza). Also, I feel compelled to note that if any of you have significant others who like Star Trek, never, ever, ever call Star Trek Star Wars. oops. You’d think I called him a dirty word.
The letter said I’d receive two coupons, but I only got one, so I used it on their Double Chocolate (if you know me, this was the obvious choice). So just note my review is based solely on sampling this one product – I don’t know how others compare.
Magnum makes, essentially, glorified ice cream bars. After looking on their website, I kept seeing taglines like "Discover our many pleasures", "the international ice cream for pleasure seekers" and "pleasure is hers for the taking". Seriously? Ok, the name Magnum alone, first of all, well let’s just say when I showed my husband the coupon, when he saw "Magnum" the last thing he thought was ice cream. Then with lines about discovering pleasure, it’s yours for the taking…come on, I can’t be the only person to think it’s funny!
Anyway – here’s the ice cream bar in all it’s glory. There are three bars in a package, and the bars seem pretty substantial in size (I don’t know the last time I bought an ice cream bar, so I really don’t know how the size compares to a "normal" ice cream bar. I’m guessing since it’s magnum it’s bigger? that’s what she said.)
Here’s a pic inside – creamy chocolate ice cream with a thin dark chocolate coating, a chocolate sauce layer, and a milk chocolate exterior. All Belgian chocolate.
Nutrition facts – a bit rich!
Fun little guarantee – this made me like the company a little more.
So overall, my thoughts? Eh. I mean, it was tasty, but for the amount of sugar and calories in there, it should be! Truly though, I really wasn’t amazed. It could have been my perception, but I felt hyped up about this product, that it was the epitome of ice cream decadence. Everything was glorified – the company, their commercials, their product. To be honest, I won’t be buying it again. I don’t normally buy products like this, but occasionally I do like to splurge. I just really don’t think these ice cream bars are worth the splurge.
Stay tuned later today for a SUPER fun announcement about the future of Sound Eats!
