Hi, my name is Lindsey and I am a 22-year-old food, fitness, health and fun lover.
I have always been interested in nutrition and health, having grown up in a family that made an effort to live healthy lives. That doesn’t mean all aspects of a healthy lifestyle have always come easy to me!
While creating balanced, nutritious meals has always been a simple and fun challenge, I have always struggled with exercise. Even as a child, I would so much rather be inside doing crafts or playing with dolls. I was never one to be athletic. While my awesome sister participated in every sport imagineable, I only participated in a couple summers of tennis lessons, a season of recreational cheerleading and a summer on the swim team at the rec center.
As I got older I delved deeper into music, which definitely left me no time for sports team and athleticism. (Not to say marching band isn’t a workout, because it actually can be!).
I enjoyed going for long “speed walks” but that was about it.
At some point in time I learned that strength training wouldn’t make me a bulked up she-man. While I don’t strength train as often as I should (no excuses, I’m working on it though!), I truly love strength training. As a life-long asthmatic, I love that strength training is something that I can still do even if I’m having a bad asthma day. Plus, I learned early on that the firm, toned look many women spend hours of cardio trying to acheive actually comes from weights. And it doesn’t take nearly as long as hours of cardio a day!
I’m definitely still on my “healthy living journey”. As I become more aware of myself and learn more about health, I’m always re-evalutaing where I am. Lately this includes things like experimenting with a vegan diet to eliminate stomach issues, and researching/ re-thinking the medications I put into my body.
One of my passions that you see on this blog is my passion for cooking and baking. It’s a passion, a hobby and a therapy all rolled into one. I love re-vamping recipes into equally delicious, healthy counterparts. Lately I’ve been loving creating appetizing vegan meals.
No matter where I go in life, I believe that life is what you make of it, and I’m determined to make mine healthy, fun, successful and full of love.
Please join me for the ride!
